increase collective awareness
"The aim is to increase collective awareness in maintaining environmental cleanliness, especially in small island areas," he said.
Achmad explained that the activity was attended by around 200 participants. They combed the waters around the Jembatan Cinta area to collect scattered trash. The collected trash was then sorted into organic and inorganic types.
"We also educate the public about waste management for its usefulness. Organic waste can be processed into fertilizer, while plastic waste can be recycled into various craft products," he explained.
Meanwhile, Head of Seribu Selatan Islands District, Muhammad Nur stated Tidung Island's status as one of the leading tourist destinations in the Seribu Islands requires the implementation of high cleanliness standards to provide comfort for tourists.
"Independent waste management has actually been run for a long time. This island is a tourism asset. If the environment is clean and well-maintained, tourists will feel comfortable," he stated.
