Students affected by the fire in RW 04 and RW 05 of Kebon Kosong Urban Village who are still attending school have been assured they will be allowed to take make-up exams if necessary.

There is also a trauma healing program

The assurance was delivered by Jakarta Vice Governor Rano Karno while visiting the evacuation site for fire survivors on Tuesday (6/2).

Rano said he had contacted Jakarta Education Agency Head Nahdiana and confirmed that fire-affected students would be given the opportunity to take rescheduled exams.

“I called the Education Agency Head and asked, ‘What about the exams for the children affected by the fire?’ She said, ‘No problem, Sir. They can take the exams later.’ That is the policy,” Rano said.

Based on data from the Education Agency, Rano revealed that 53 elementary school-age children, six junior high school-age children, and 22 vocational high school students were affected by the fire.

According to him, the Jakarta Provincial Government has provided school supplies and uniforms in addition to food and clothing assistance for all affected residents.

“There is also a trauma healing program being held at the evacuation post for children,” he added.

Regarding the future housing status of residents living on State Secretariat-owned land, Rano said the administration is still seeking a solution. As an alternative, he said residents had been offered relocation to public housings.

“We always try to make residents understand that it is not that their current homes are unfit. But perhaps living in public housings would provide a more decent living environment,” he explained.
