PT MRT Jakarta presents the Elderly Officers at Stations program as a form of appreciation for the dedication of elderly officers in serving customers while commemorating Senior Citizens Day 2026.
This program, which began in 2025, aims to build public transportation services that are inclusive, friendly, and empower all levels of society.
fostering a culture of discipline
This year, 24 elderly volunteers had the opportunity to participate in the Lansia #PastiBisa Berkarya activity initiated by PT MRT Jakarta.
For seven days, May 29 to June 5, 2026, they were placed at the four busiest stations, namely Lebak Bulus Bank Syariah Indonesia, Blok M BCA, Istora Mandiri, Dukuh Atas BNI, and Bundaran HI Bank Jakarta.
Their main task is to remind and educate passengers about behavior while in the Jakarta MRT area, such as queuing in the yellow line area, prioritizing passengers getting off, not eating and drinking in the paid area, and assisting passengers who need directional information.
PT MRT Jakarta Director of Operations and Maintenance Mega Tarigan said that through this program, MRT Jakarta wants to show that the role of contributing and actively participating in efforts to build awareness, discipline, and order in public transportation can be carried out by the elderly if they get the opportunity.
"This initiative is not only a form of respect for the elderly, but also a real step in fostering a culture of discipline, awareness and shared concern in public spaces," she said, Tuesday (6/2).
She added this is also reinforced by the elderly-friendly services and facilities that the Jakarta MRT has had in place for some time, such as priority lifts at stations, priority seats on trains, and staff ready to assist.
"Elderly customers can feel safe and comfortable with this inclusive facility," she added.
As for information, each elderly officer goes through a selection process, requiring them to be between 50 and 60 years old, physically and mentally fit to work in public areas, have formal work experience, such as in the service sector, and have family permission. After passing the selection process, they receive brief training before assuming their duties.
Mega stated the support and contributions from customers and staff inspire them to remain committed to providing safe, comfortable, and inclusive transportation for the people of Jakarta.
"On this Senior Day, we would like to thank all our customers who have actively participated in building Jakarta with MRT Jakarta. We also extend our special appreciation to the elderly staff who remain dedicated to maintaining public services," she stated.
