Member of Commission A of the Jakarta City Council, Kevin Wu, appreciated the steps taken by the Jakarta Provincial Government to enliven the celebration of Tri Suci Waisak 2570 BE through the Illumination of Jakarta Festival: Glow of Peace.

During the festival, several corners of the capital were decorated with Vesak-themed ornaments. One particular attraction was the decorations around the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout, which featured various Vesak elements.

"In addition to beautifying the face of Jakarta, this activity also serves as a means to promote diversity and inclusive living in the capital city through the use of public spaces to introduce various cultures," he said, Tuesday (6/2).

He also invited all Jakarta residents to join in the Vesak celebrations and pray for a more harmonious social life in the capital.

"Everyone is invited to celebrate the Tri Suci Vesak, which carries the message of peace. With the theme "Dharma: Maintaining World Peace," not only Buddhists but all elements of society are invited to work together to achieve a harmonious life in the future," he added.

According to Kevin, holding festivals like this not only provides cultural and social value but also has a positive impact on the economy. The presence of various attractions and attractive decorations encourages people to engage in public spaces and increases tourist visits.

"International tourists also gain exciting new experiences in Jakarta. If held consistently, festivals like this could become a face or identity of Jakarta as a global city," he assessed.

Kevin hopes that the commemoration of the Tri Suci Waisak can be a momentum for the people of Jakarta to build a safer, more comfortable, peaceful, harmonious, and prosperous life in the coming year.

"Society today faces a variety of challenges that come and go. Hopefully, the Vesak holiday will bring peace to the hearts and minds of Jakarta residents," he hoped.
