The Jakarta Provincial Government is carrying out emergency repairs following a road collapse on Jalan Raya Lenteng Agung in South Jakarta. To support underground drainage repair work by the Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Agency, the southbound section of Jalan Lenteng Agung toward Depok was temporarily closed from 2 PM on Monday (6/1) until 5 AM on Tuesday (6/2).
Necessary to support underground drainage repairs
During the repair work, traffic from Pasar Minggu heading toward Depok is being diverted through alternative routes. Motorists may make a U-turn at the JPL 23 railway crossing or the Universitas Pancasila turnaround before continuing via Jalan Moch. Kahfi II, Jalan Tanah Baru, and surrounding roads.
Alternatively, vehicles can use the horseshoe turnaround in front of IISIP Jakarta and proceed via Jalan Raya Lenteng Agung, Jalan TB Simatupang, Jalan Kebagusan Raya, or Jalan Raya Cilandak KKO before continuing to Jalan Moch. Kahfi I.
Road users may also choose an alternative route via Jalan TB Simatupang, Jalan Raya Bogor, and Jalan Akses UI.
Meanwhile, heavy vehicles traveling from Tanjung Barat toward Depok are being directed to use Jagorawi Toll Road or Depok–Antasari (Desari) Toll Road. Another alternative route is via Jalan TB Simatupang, Jalan Raya Bogor, and Jalan Akses UI.
Jakarta Transportation Agency Head, Budi Awaluddin, apologized for traffic disruptions caused by the repair work.
“We apologize for the temporary closure of the southbound section of Jalan Lenteng Agung toward Depok from today until early tomorrow morning. The closure is necessary to support underground drainage repairs being carried out by the Water Resources Agency,” he said while inspecting the site on Monday (6/1).
Budi explained that the Transportation Agency has deployed personnel at several locations to assist road users and ensure traffic continues to flow smoothly during the repair work.
Personnel have been stationed near the horseshoe turnaround and the Universitas Pancasila U-turn to guide motorists toward the designated alternative routes.
“We have deployed personnel around the area to direct residents to alternative routes. We also urge the public to follow instructions from officers on the ground for everyone's safety,” he noted.
As part of public outreach efforts, Budi added, the Jakarta Transportation Agency has installed seven information banners at strategic locations.
Five banners have been placed along corridors leading to Depok, while two others have been installed in the Lenteng Agung area to provide motorists with advance notice of the temporary closure.
The Jakarta Provincial Government continues to coordinate with relevant agencies to accelerate the repair process and minimize disruptions to public mobility.
“We encourage residents to adjust their travel plans, use the available alternative routes, and prioritize safety around the work zone,” he asserted.
Meanwhile, South Jakarta Vice Governor Ali Murthadho added that repairs to the collapsed road have reached approximately 75 percent completion. The road closure is required for around 15 hours to allow for hardening, compaction, and concrete work.
Ali highlighted that the South Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency had been instructed to conduct an inventory across all 10 sub-districts to identify areas vulnerable to landslides or road subsidence.
“I have asked the Water Resources and Public Works Sub-agencies to assign field coordinators to monitor conditions on the ground so similar incidents do not happen again,” he said.
