The Pancasila Day commemoration ceremony at the Jakarta City Hall courtyard on Monday (6/1) was conducted with great solemnity.

The event was led by Jakarta City Secretary, Uus Kuswanto, and attended by all state civil apparatus (ASN) under the Jakarta government.

Pancasila serves as a moral anchor in navigating global turbulence

Delivering a message from the Pancasila Ideology Education Agency (BPIP) Head, Uus explained that this year’s commemoration carries the theme "Pancasila: Unifier of the Nation, Foundation of World Peace."

"The noble values of Pancasila are not only relevant for maintaining the integrity of the Indonesian nation but also serve as a key to achieving lasting global peace," he explained.

He furthered that Pancasila has consistently proven its resilience in safeguarding Indonesia's unity amidst uncertainty and geopolitical threats.

"Pancasila serves as a moral anchor in navigating global turbulence, ranging from technological disruption to geopolitical dynamics," he remarked.

The mandate of the nation’s founding fathers, as enshrined in the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, emphasizes the commitment to participate in maintaining a world order based on independence, eternal peace, and social justice.

"As a great nation, Indonesia continues to demonstrate tangible leadership," he asserted.

He added that the contributions of Indonesian peacekeeping forces under the United Nations (UN) banner, the nation's role in resolving regional conflicts, and its consistency in advocating for justice for oppressed nations are the manifestation of the second principle of Pancasila: Just and Civilized Humanity.

"The Indonesian nation wants the world to see that peace is not merely the absence of war, but rather the presence of justice for all humanity," he added.

He expressed his conviction that an advanced Indonesia is not a hollow dream; however, economic and technological progress without a moral compass can lead the nation astray. Thereby, he called upon all sectors of the nation, particularly the youth as the guardians of the future, to embody Pancasila as a living ideology.

"Do not allow these noble values to become mere ornaments on office walls or stagnant text in history books. Happy Pancasila Day. Long live my Indonesia! Freedom!," he concluded.
