The Central Jakarta Food Security, Marine, and Agriculture (KPKP) Sub-agency has conducted health inspections on 2,258 qurban animals from Wednesday (5/27) to Thursday (5/28).

Consisted of 1,395 goats, 696 cows, and 167 sheep

Central Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency's Livestock and Animal Health Section Head, Syafri Edwar, the inspected sacrificial animals were spread across 100 slaughter sites in eight sub-districts.

"The thousands of sacrificial animals that underwent pre-slaughter health inspections consisted of 1,395 goats, 696 cows, and 167 sheep," he noted on Friday (5/29).

He revealed that during inspections, personnel on duty found liver flikes in 33 cows during the slaughtering process.

"Personnel instructed qurban committees to destroy cow livers infected with liver flukes," he said.

Meanwhile, Syafri added that the beef and other parts of the cattle remained safe for consumption.

"The infected cow livers were destroyed, while the meat remained safe to be distributed to residents," he explained.
