Tambora Sub-district has prepared three evacuation sites for 200 residents from 50 families affected by a fire in the densely populated settlement on Jalan Krendang Barat Gang 4, RT 13/04, Krendang Urban Village.

The emergency response period will remain in effect until Monday

In addition to temporary shelters, fire victims have also received various forms of assistance, including ready-to-eat meals, basic hygiene kits, and health services.

Tambora Sub-district Head Pangestu Aji said initial data collection showed that 50 families, totaling 200 people, were affected by the fire and lost their homes. Some of them are currently being accommodated at three evacuation sites prepared by the administration: Musala Al-Hikmah in RT 11/05 Krendang, Musala Al-Karomah in RT 13/04, and an emergency tent near the fire location.

“Based on the information we received, around 85 percent of the fire victims were renters or non-permanent residents. So, they may have temporarily chosen to stay with relatives,” he said on Friday (5/29).

Aji added that the administration had also coordinated with the West Jakarta Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil) Sub-agency as well as the Education Sub-agency to facilitate the replacement of residents’ documents destroyed in the fire.

Following the incident, Aji said the administration would intensify public outreach and monitoring related to fire hazards in the area.

In addition, the administration will work with the state electricity company and the police to crack down on illegal electricity connections and monitor unsafe electrical installations in residential areas.

“The emergency response period will remain in effect until Monday, and after that we will evaluate the situation again. PPSU personnel will also help residents clean up the area once it is declared safe,” he explained.

For information, the fire that broke out on Thursday (5/28) night destroyed 27 houses across RT 10/05, RT 11/05, RT 12/05, and RT 13/04 in Krendang Urban Village.

The cause of the fire remains under police investigation.
