East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-agency (Gulkarmat) personnel successfully extinguished a blaze that broke out at a residence on Jalan Rasamala Raya, RR 14/06, Utan Kayu Selatan Urban Village, Matraman Sub-district.

East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-agency Operation Section Head, Abdul Wahid stated, the blaze erupted around 3:30 AM. While the premises were vacant, as the owner was away at their parents' home.

He noted that locals, upon seeing plumes of smoke emanating from the back of the building, quickly reached out to the owner and notified firefighters.

"The fire is believed to have started in the kitchen. Residents saw smoke pouring out from the rear of the 100-square-meter property," he expressed, Friday (5/29).

He immediately dispatched 11 fire engines and 55 personnel to the scene.

"The entire operation was successfully concluded at 4:44 AM. There were no casualties or injuries reported in the incident, which is suspected to have been triggered by an electrical short circuit," he explained.

Matraman Sub-district Head Muhammad Husnul Fauji further stated that the residence was home to a single family of two.

According to him, local authorities are working with the owner on the next steps, such as processing social aid and registering the property for post-disaster housing relief.

"We highly appreciate the personnel' quick response in dousing the flames before they could spread to neighboring structures," he stated.
