Acting Governor of Jakarta, Rano Karno, released 744 animal health and sacrificial meat inspection officers and 484 halal slaughterers at the Perumda Dharma Jaya Slaughterhouse, Jalan Raya Penggilingan, Cakung, East Jakarta, Tuesday (5/26).

484 halal slaughterers owned

These officers inspecting sacrificial animals and meat are deployed to 892 slaughterhouses in five city areas and the Seribu Islands Regency.

"They will be ensuring that the sacrificial worship in Jakarta runs safely, orderly, and according to regulations," Rano said.

Inspections are carried out before and after the slaughter of the sacrificial animal, to ensure that the sacrificial meat received meets the principles of Safe, Healthy, Whole and Halal (ASUH).

In addition to strengthening the supervision aspect, Rano admitted that the Jakarta Provincial Government is also continuing to strive to increase the capacity of halal slaughterers so that the slaughtering process runs according to standards.

"There are 484 halal slaughterers owned by the Jakarta Provincial Government," he explained.

He added that based on information from the Food Security, Maritime Affairs and Agriculture Agency (KPKP), a total of around 68 thousand sacrificial animals will be slaughtered in the Jakarta area during Eid al-Adha 2026.

This year, the Jakarta Provincial Government will slaughter 210 cows, an increase from the 153 cows last year.

"I hope that all Eid al-Adha activities can run smoothly, orderly and safely," he hoped.
