East Jakarta Vice Mayor Kusmanto directly inspected several damaged roads in Cakung and Duren Sawit sub-districts, most of which were caused by utility network excavation projects.

Kusmanto said repairs would be carried out as quickly as possible to prevent dangers and maintain road user comfort.

"Of the 65 damaged road points in Cakung Sub-district, only 10 locations have yet to be repaired," he said on Friday (5/22).

He explained that the remaining 10 locations couldn't yet be repaired because they are located on privately owned assets that have not been handed over to Jakarta Provincial Government as social and public facilities.

Meanwhile, he added, 117 damaged road points in Duren Sawit Sub-district had been repaired. Even so, monitoring and repair efforts will continue for any new road damage found in the field.

"We will continue monitoring damaged roads across the 10 sub-districts in stages," he asserted.

Kusmanto also urged residents to actively participate in monitoring road conditions in their respective neighborhoods. Residents are encouraged to immediately report damaged roads to urban village offices, sub-district offices, or the Public Works Sub-agency.

"Urban village heads and sub-district heads must also actively monitor the repair process so the handling can proceed quickly and meet standards," he stated.

According to him, vendors responsible for utility projects must also take responsibility for restoring excavated roads to their original condition. The obligation is part of the cooperation agreements established prior to project implementation.

"Repairs must not be left unfinished before meeting proper standards. That is why supervision from the Public Works Sub-agency as the responsible agency is essential," he highlighted.

Kusmanto noted that the most severe road damage is currently found in Cakung Sub-district because several temporary repairs still use asphalt, while the original road structure was concrete.

"Roads with concrete construction should be repaired again using concrete casting methods so they are stronger and less prone to damage," he stressed.
