The Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, has prohibited sacrificial animal traders from setting up stalls on sidewalks, parks, or green open spaces.

Pramono does not want the buying and selling of sacrificial animals in public areas to disrupt community activities.

we will issue a warning

"Surely we will issue a warning to those like that," said Pramono, Wednesday (5/20).

The Governor stated that instructions regarding the ban have been issued and disseminated to all his staff. Officers will monitor and issue warnings to vendors who continue to use public areas for the sale and purchase of sacrificial animals.

"I have issued instructions that no one is allowed to sell in places that disrupt public activities, especially on sidewalks, in gardens, in parks," he added.

Furthermore, Pramono also confirmed that the price of sacrificial animals in Jakarta remains under control and relatively stable. He also stated that the supply of sacrificial animals, both cows and goats, is still sufficient.

"The prices of sacrificial animals in Jakarta have not increased; they remain relatively stable. The number of sacrificial animals, whether cows, goats, or other animals, is now fully available in Jakarta," he continued.

The abundance of sacrificial animals has prompted other regions to source supplies from Jakarta. This, he stated, demonstrates the effective role of regionally-owned enterprises (BUMD), particularly Perumda Dharma Jaya, in preparing sacrificial animal supplies.

"The BUMD responsible for this, one of which is Dharma Jaya, they prepared wel," he admitted.
