The Jakarta Representative Office of Bank Indonesia (BI) is supporting the Jakarta Provincial Government's collaboration with the private sector through the Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, and Small and Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM) Agency in launching the Gang Dagang platform to accelerate the digital transformation of MSMEs in the capital.

Jakarta plays an important role in the national economy

Acting Head of Licensing and Payment System Policy Implementation Division at BI Jakarta Representative Office, Roes Dina Martha, said Jakarta holds a strategic role in the national economy, supported by stronger digital competitiveness compared to other regions in Indonesia.

"Jakarta plays an important role in the national economy, and that role is supported by the use of technology in expanding the digital ecosystem," she said on Monday (5/18).

She explained that several indicators show Jakarta's strength in digital transformation, including the Digital Competitiveness Index, Indonesia Digital Society Index, and Local Online Service Index (LOSI), all of which are above the average of other global cities.

In addition, digital transactions through QRIS in Jakarta have continued to grow significantly.

"The cumulative frequency of QRIS transactions in Jakarta during the first quarter of 2026 grew significantly by 141.81 percent," she noted.

According to her, the figure contributed 38.67 percent of total national QRIS transactions. BI Jakarta therefore believes the Gang Dagang platform can strengthen the MSME digital ecosystem through digital payment technology and improved financial literacy.

On the other hand, Roes Dina said the platform's gamification concept offers a fresh approach that is highly relevant to younger generations, particularly Gen Z.

"We see this gamification approach as something new and very relevant for Gen Z," she added.

She hopes Gang Dagang can help MSMEs improve financial management skills, expand the use of QRIS digital payments, and open wider and more sustainable market access.

BI Jakarta also expressed appreciation for the collaboration between the private sector, government, and authorities in supporting MSME empowerment.

"Going forward, we hope initiatives like this will continue and contribute to accelerating MSME digitalization, expanding the payment ecosystem, and strengthening an inclusive and competitive regional economy," she said.
