A dozen joint personnel conducted dredging of water channels along Jalan Falatehan, Melawai, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, to prevent inundation.
Kebayoran Baru Water Resources (SDA) Task Force Head, Sutopo, stated that the cleaning was a follow-up to a resident's complaint via JAKI application regarding a 30-centimeter-deep puddle that had previously occurred at the location.
We target to complete the dredging and cleaning this week
"During recent rainfall, the area experienced flooding lasting about 30 minutes, which was quite disruptive to residents' activities," he expressed, Monday (5/11).
Sutopo explained that the dredging is being conducted along a 200-meter stretch of the channel, involving 15 joint personnel from the local personnel of "Blue Troops" and "Orange Troops".
"During the process, personnel found trash, debris, and fiber optic cables obstructing the water flow," he explained.
According to him, the handling is being done manually by dredging mud sediment, debris, and trash. Around 250 sacks have been prepared to contain the collected sediment and waste.
"We target to complete the dredging and cleaning this week. Afterward, we can proceed with repairing damaged retaining walls at several points," he added.
Economy and Development Section Head, Wanda Yanuarinto, urged the public not to throw trash into the water channels as it can trigger blockages.
"Hopefully, with these efforts, the water flow will become smoother," he concluded.
