A total of 74 sacrificial cows at the shelter on Jalan Kemanggisan Raya RT 05/13, Palmerah Urban Village, Wednesday (5/6), underwent a health check by the Food Security, Maritime Affairs and Agriculture Implementation Unit of Palmerah District.
We carry out antemortem
Head of the Unit, Purwanti, said that her party carried out physical examinations and health documents to ensure the health and suitability of the animal's condition according to the sharia of sacrifice.
"We carry out antemortem starting from dental examination to determine the animal's age and other health checks," she said.
Health checks include checking the condition of the animals' claws, eyes, and activity. For animals found to have health problems such as weakness or eye pain, the team provides vitamins and special eye medication.
Furthermore, document checks are carried out to ensure that all animals at the shelter have an animal health certificate (SKH) from their region of origin. This ensures that the sacrificial animals for sale meet applicable regulations.
"The examination involved two veterinarians from the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB)," she added.
After ensuring that all animals have documents, are healthy and fit, they will provide a certificate and install stickers at the shelter.
"This inspection in Kemanggisan Raya is the first. We will run the activity at other shelter locations," she admitted.
