The Central Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency (SDA) deployed 10 'Blue Squad' personnel to normalize the drainage system on Jalan Gelora IX, RW 02, Gelora, Tanah Abang.

Tanah Abang SDA Executing Unit Head, Eli Menawan Sari, said the 40-meter drainage channel required normalization as it was blocked by wild plants and piles of scrap materials. These obstructions frequently caused puddles to form during heavy downpours.

"The normalization process involves installing 60x60 cm u-ditches," she noted, Wednesday (5/6).

She explained that the work began on April 27 and is expected to be finished by the middle of June.

"Our hope is that once the project is complete, the drainage system will operate at peak efficiency and effectively prevent localized flooding," she added.

This action received appreciation from one of the residents from RW 02 Gelora, Juhari (43).

"Hopefully, once fixed, the street will no longer experience any flooding," he hoped.
