Jakarta Vice Governor Rano Karno handed over occupational accident benefits and death insurance to the families of two train collision victims in East Bekasi, Nuryati and Nurlela.

The victims were a Jumantik (larva monitoring official) from Utan Panjang Urban Village and a teacher at SDN 11 Pulo Gebang, respectively.

This compensation is a form of the Jakarta government's responsibility

"On behalf of the Jakarta government, I express my deepest condolences for the train accident in Bekasi that led to the passing of the late Mrs. Nurlela and Mrs. Nuryati," he expressed, Thursday (4/30).

He explained, Nurlela was a teacher at SDN 11 Pulo Gebang who resided in the Cikarang area. A symbolic work accident benefit totaling Rp 283,227,000 was presented to her family.

Meanwhile, her family, a Jumantik (larva monitoring) official from Utan Panjang, received a death benefit of Rp 42 million, along with a grant of Rp 20 million from Baznas BAZIS Jakarta.

"This compensation is a form of the Jakarta government's responsibility and care for the bereaved families," he explained.

While acknowledging that it cannot replace the loss, Rano hoped that the compensation would help ease the burden on the bereaved families.

Consequently, he extended his appreciation to the relevant parties—PT Taspen, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, and Baznas BAZIS Jakarta—for processing the benefits swiftly.

On that occasion, he also stated that his administration would ensure the continued education of Nurlela’s young son. He noted, Jakarta has various programs to facilitate education.

"Education Agency has programs for that. We will look into it; since she was part of our family, there will certainly be priority," he emphasized.
