Jakarta Vice Governor Rano Karno has committed to addressing safety measures at railway crossings in response to the recent collision between an Argo Bromo train and a Commuterline at East Bekasi Station.
"In Jakarta, there are indeed some crossings that might not be gated, but at a minimum, they must be manned. This is an area we need to review," he expressed, Thursday (4/30).

PT KAI had previously asserted that local governments are responsible for the security of railway crossings.
In response, Afan Adriansyah, an assistant to the Jakarta Regional Secretary, noted that the city is currently building the Latumenten Flyover to eliminate a level crossing.
Managed by the Jakarta Public Works Agency since late 2025, the project aims to reduce traffic and improve public safety.
"As a preventative measure for level crossings, we are constructing a flyover at Jalan Latumenten, which is expected to be finished this year," he explained.
