The South Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency is preparing alternative parking pockets in the Bendera Pusaka Park area, Kebayoran Baru, to tackle illegal parking, a frequent grievance among local residents.
South Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency Head, Bernad Octavianus Pasaribu noted that residents have voiced their frustrations over park visitors frequently parking their vehicles in residential neighborhoods.
The plan is to funnel parking toward the former Lauser Park
"In fact, several designated parking spots have already been provided at Bendera Pusaka Park. However, there are also certain areas that remain strictly off-limits," he stated, Tuesday (4/28).
To remedy the situation, he explained that the authorities have designated several parking spots and are planning to expand into the former Lauser Park site, which is adjacent to Bendera Pusaka Park.
"The plan is to funnel parking toward the former Lauser Park as an additional site. The space is deemed adequate and has been utilized for parking in the past. However, residents are often in the dark regarding this option, causing vehicles to bottleneck in the former Langsat and Barito parks," he elaborated.
According to him, several areas in the former Langsat Park that were the subject of resident complaints have now been cleared of parked vehicles to preserve public order and the amenity of the space.
“Parking at the former Ayodya Park is permitted and has been outfitted with barriers and signage,” he added.
Bernad urged the public visiting Bendera Pusaka Park to strictly adhere to the designated parking regulations for the sake of communal order and convenience.
He noted that from the outset, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has advised visitors to opt for public transportation due to the site's limited parking capacity.
