The activity was held under the “Safari 3 AH: Prevent, Sort, Process” program as part of Earth Day commemorations, in collaboration with the East Jakarta City Administration, the Indonesian Waste Bank Association, and Lions Club.

East Jakarta Assistant for Economy and Development, Fauzi, said the campaign aims to raise public awareness and encourage residents to strengthen waste bank programs in their respective areas, with the goal of reducing the volume of waste sent to the Bantar Gebang Integrated Waste Processing Site in Bekasi, West Java.

"Through this activity, we hope residents will continue to support waste sorting at the source," he emphasized.

Fauzi added that participants were also introduced to the 3R waste management principles: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.

Head of Social Welfare Section of Kayu Manis Urban Village, Indah Susanti, said the event also featured an environmental-themed poetry contest and games, with prizes such as sarongs and cash bouquets.

In addition, the program included workshops on eco-enzyme and biowash, ecobrick making, and composting, as well as free blood sugar checks and distribution of reading glasses for participants.

"This activity is very beneficial for residents as it helps increase public knowledge on waste sorting at the source," she highlighted.
