The Jakarta Provincial Government's Rp 1 public transport fare program for National Transportation Day has drawn strong public enthusiasm.

"We hope programs like this can be held more frequently,"

Santri Nurjanah, 37, a resident of Ciracas Urban Village, Ciracas Sub-district, East Jakarta, took advantage of the program to travel around the city with her family and neighbors.

Nurjanah and nine fellow homemakers set out early from the Transjakarta bus stop at Kampung Rambutan Bus Terminal, making the most of the opportunity for a low-cost outing.

"Our initial destination is Pantai Indah Kapuk in North Jakarta. After that, we plan to go around Jakarta by Transjakarta bus while the fare is only Rp 1," she said on Friday (4/24).

Nurjanah said she learned about the program through social media. Its timing on a Friday also made it easier for her to bring her child along, as school ends earlier.

She hopes similar programs will not be limited to National Transportation Day, but held more often so residents can further enjoy public transport services.

"We hope programs like this can be held more frequently, so Jakarta residents can use public transportation for travel and leisure," she said.

Meanwhile, Kampung Rambutan Bus Terminal Head Revi Zulkarnain said the Rp 1 fare program has significantly increased passenger numbers.

"From 5:00 AM to 1:00 PM, passenger numbers at the Kampung Rambutan stop have reached 1,476 and are expected to keep rising through the afternoon," he informed.

He added that passenger numbers have doubled compared to normal days. In addition to regular commuters, many residents deliberately used the program for recreational trips.

"The Rp 1 fare program has led to a significant increase in Transjakarta passenger volume at Kampung Rambutan Terminal," he highlighted.

He urged all Transjakarta users to remain cautious during their journey and not hesitate to ask staff if they are unsure about their destination or bus routes.

'If unsure about their route, passengers can ask Transjakarta staff or Transportation Agency officers at the terminal," he said.
