The Jakarta government will implement a Rp 1 fare for Transjakarta, MRT, and LRT Jakarta services to commemorate National Transportation Day, observed every April 24.
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the policy is intended to show appreciation to the public while encouraging a lifestyle shift toward the use of public transportation.
Jakarta government will provide easy access
"To welcome National Transportation Day, the Jakarta government will provide easy access—virtually free—where passengers only need to pay Rp 1 for the MRT, the Jakarta-managed LRT, and Transjakarta," he expressed, Thursday (4/23).
Pramono hopes that more people will take advantage of the transportation facilities provided by the administration.
"The Jakarta government wants the public to get used to using the public transit systems we provide," he stated.
Aside that, this policy is intended to curb traffic congestion in the city and boost the number of public transport users.
"As the Governor, I would like to say Happy National Transportation Day this April 24," he added.
