The North Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency continues to ramp up crackdowns on illegal parking along Jalan Danau Sunter Barat in Sunter Agung, Tanjung Priok.
North Jakarta Traffic and Road Transport Control and Operations Section Head, Yulza Romadhoni Putra said the crackdown follows various public complaints about traffic jams and blocked sidewalks in the vicinity.
Owners may retrieve them at our office
"Reports were received about illegal parking in front of the North Jakarta District Court that hinders traffic and pedestrian movement. We have already dispatched personnel to the site to address the issue," he stated, Thursday (4/23).
He explained that based on the summary of yesterday's enforcement actions, eight motorcycles were hauled away, while five cars were towed to the North Jakarta Transportation Sub-department office.
Besides towing, personnel also imposed sanctions by removing tire valves from dozens of other vehicles in accordance with Bylaw No. 5/2014.
"For the hauled vehicles, owners may retrieve them at our office by presenting their complete vehicle documentation," he clarified.
He went on to say that routine supervision will be maintained, with personnel stationed at the location to monitor conditions and urge drivers to follow parking rules.
"Our focus is not just on enforcement; we also prioritize a persuasive approach. Nevertheless, if violations are still found, we will not hesitate to take action again as per the existing rules," he asserted.
His party will also collaborate with the North Jakarta District Court to provide extra parking areas for visitors. This move is intended to be a long-term solution to reduce illegal parking in the vicinity.
"We hope this heightened monitoring will raise public awareness of traffic rules, ensuring order and comfort for everyone," he hoped.
This action received appreciation from one of the residents from Papanggo Urban Village, Hendy (49).
"I hope we don't see any more cars parking along this road; it’s a major nuisance and looks cluttered. Looking ahead, I hope parking pockets can be set up, much like the ones at JIS or other areas," he added.
