Residents enthusiastically welcomed the low-cost food sale held by Perumda Pasar Jaya at the Kebayoran Baru Sub-district Office, South Jakarta.

Susi Susilowati (57), a resident from Gunung Urban Village, praised the event for offering goods at prices more affordable than regular markets.

The costs are still a bit lower

"I managed to get oil, flour, and detergent today. The costs are still a bit lower than what you'd find elsewhere," she expressed, Monday (4/20).

She hoped that similar events would be held regularly and that the timing would be adjusted to the residents' financial conditions.

"If it were held after payday, it would likely attract even more people. Nevertheless, today’s event was quite good as the promotions offered were very attractive," she explained.

In the meantime, Sundari, Section Head of Economy and Development, stated that the low-cost food market was a collaborative effort with Perumda Pasar Jaya.

"The sale ran from 8 AM until noon. Residents could buy staples like cooking oil, sugar, soy sauce, and instant noodles, along with other items, all at budget-friendly prices," she added.

She explained that this effort is designed to keep the prices of staples stable and keep inflation in check. Additionally, the program aims to help with living expenses, especially for low-income families, by offering quality food at lower rates.

Sundari thanked the locals for coming out and participating in the sale. She looks forward to seeing a wider range of items in the future to provide even more support to the residents.

"Hopefully, we can offer more variety moving forward. There were many people earlier asking for things like beef, chicken, fish, and milk for their kids," she hoped.
