West Jakarta Administration held community work by targeting Jembatan Lima connecting channel on Jalan KH Mas Mansyur, Jembatan Lima, Tambora.

West Jakarta Mayor, Iin Mutmainah said this communal work is a regular weekly event throughout the region. In addition to flood prevention, this activity also serves as a cleanup effort.

"We started this activity last week on a regular and integrated basis. This communal work also aims to assess the level of difficulty of the problems in each region," she said, Sunday (4/19).

This activity focused on addressing the large amount of mud and waste sediment in the Jembatan Lima water channel. This focus was chosen because the flow of water from residential areas to the Krukut River was disrupted.

Her rank found a lot of trash and mud sediment along the canal. She hopes this activity will improve the flow of water in the Jembatan Lima canal towards the crossing and Krukut River.

In addition to focusing on cleaning the drains, the communal work also included area cleanups. She noted that the location's proximity to the market contributed to the large amount of plastic waste.

To reduce the volume of waste, Iin stated that she would cooperate with the management of Jembatan Lima Market. She hoped that joint efforts from all parties would mitigate the impact of the flooding and improve environmental cleanliness.

"This requires cooperation for us to achieve zero flooding and inundation in West Jakarta," she emphasized.

Head of Tambora District, Pangestu Aji explained this communal work activities targeted approximately 450 meters of the Jembatan Lima connecting channel in the RW 01, 02 and RW 08 areas. The work involved 210 joint personnel from the Water Resources, Environment, Bina Marga, Fire Handling and Rescue, Transportation, Satpol PP and PPSU.

He added that cleaning the channel, which had not been cleaned for almost 17 years, also involved residents.

"Let's take care of Jakarta to make it better," he appealed.
