The Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, through its Tourism and Creative Economy Training Center (P4Ekraf), is organizing a 2026 Local Tour Guide Training and Certification Program.
To ensure every visitor has the best possible experience in Jakarta
The program is a strategic effort to strengthen the competitiveness of human resources in the tourism sector. Registration opened on March 22, 2026, through the agency's official channels.
Following strict administrative screening and a pre-test, 40 participants were selected for the intensive training and competency assessment.
The program runs for five days, featuring training sessions and practical exercises at the Bank Indonesia Museum as well as a walking tour in the Kota Tua Jakarta area from April 13–16, followed by a competency certification test by the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP) at Mercure Batavia, West Jakarta, on April 17.
Head of the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Andhika Permata, emphasized the importance of tour guides in shaping the city's image, noting that they serve as the frontline and ambassadors representing Jakarta.
"As Jakarta transforms into a global city, we need professionals who not only understand history and culture but can also deliver inclusive, internationally standardized services. This training is an investment to ensure every visitor has the best possible experience in Jakarta," he said on Friday (4/17).
Meanwhile, Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Training Center, Endrati Fariani, noted that this year’s curriculum focuses on accessibility.
She explained that the curriculum is based on national competency standards and includes additional key materials such as "Inclusive Jakarta". Participants are equipped with basic sign language skills and service standards for people with disabilities.
"Our focus is to produce tour guides who are competent, responsive to safety aspects, and able to serve all segments of visitors without exception," she stressed.
In its implementation, the agency collaborated with the Indonesian Tour Guides Association (HPI) and the Indonesian Tour Guide Professional Certification Institute (LSP) to ensure all materials and assessments meet current industry standards.
"Through official certification from BNSP, graduates are expected to have strong credibility to support the growth of tourism in Jakarta," she said.
