Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said income inequality in the capital has declined, as reflected in the latest gini ratio data. He noted that Jakarta's gini ratio fell from 0.441 to 0.423.

He made the statement during a press conference on the first-quarter 2026 city budget (APBD) realization at Jakarta City Hall on Friday (4/17).

"I would also like to share one issue that has always been a concern for me and the vice governor, namely the gini ratio. Fortunately, it has declined from 0.441 to 0.423," Pramono highlighted.

According to him, reducing inequality in the city remains one of the most challenging macroeconomic indicators, given the massive circulation of money and the concentration of high-income groups in Jakarta.

"Most wealthy individuals are in Jakarta, and much of the money circulates here. That is why the gini ratio remains a key challenge compared to other macroeconomic indicators," he explained.

To maintain this positive trend and strengthen public purchasing power, Pramono emphasized that the Jakarta Provincial Government will continue prioritizing social assistance programs in the city budget, particularly in the education and health sectors.

He said these programs serve as a buffer to help sustain residents’ economic resilience.

"The vice governor and I have stressed that the budget must not reduce allocations for programs such as KJP, KJMU, KAJ, KLJ, and KPDC," Pramono said.
