The Jakarta government continues to enhance public services. In the burial services sector, through the Parks and City Forest Agency (Distamhut), the government consistently organizes training on funeral rites for the public.

This program also serves to strengthen social care values and the spirit of mutual cooperation within the community.

This is systematically designed with a focus on practical and applicable approaches

Jakarta Distamhut Head, Fajar Sauri stated that the funeral rites training is part of the government’s efforts to bolster community preparedness while enhancing the quality of community-based social services.

He revealed that the training is being held from April 7 to 28, 2026, with 70 participants from each of the 12 participating urban villages.

“This is systematically designed with a focus on practical and applicable approaches, ensuring that participants gain not only theoretical knowledge but also technical skills that can be immediately applied in their respective neighborhoods,” he expressed, Wednesday (4/15).

Fajar added that the training materials are delivered by competent and experienced instructors to ensure procedural accuracy and compliance with applicable religious principles.

The curriculum provides information and technical guidance on funeral rites in accordance with Islamic teachings. The sessions cover the entire process, including washing the body, shrouding, performing the funeral prayer (salat al-janazah), and the burial process.

"The preparation of a deceased person is not merely an obligation, but a final tribute filled with spiritual merit. This training is also part of the Parks and City Forest Agency's duty to provide public services, specifically in the field of burial management," he explained.

He hopes that residents will gain the necessary skills to handle funeral preparations on their own, whether for their own families or for their neighbors.

“With the knowledge from this training, people will have the readiness and compassion to serve one another according to religious teachings. This allows the community to be more involved in ensuring that burials are handled properly and respectfully, following all current religious and social standards,” he emphasized.
