Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung expressed his appreciation for the 'yellow troops' of the Bina Marga Agency for their dedication to repairing and maintaining the city's infrastructure.
According to Pramono, these workers are always swift in responding to various public complaints regarding damaged infrastructure.
I offer my deepest appreciation and respect to all of you
He admitted to having personally experienced the tangible impact of the personnel' hard work on the ground. This was stated during a social gathering and halalbihalal event held at the Office of the Bina Marga Investigation, Testing, and Measurement Management Unit in East Jakarta on Tuesday (4/14).
"Looking at your work performance and the way you handle problems—as Mr. Wondo mentioned, there are about 1,500 members of the yellow troops—but with results like these, I offer my deepest appreciation and respect to all of you," he expressed.
On that occasion, he also urged all 'yellow troops' to work professionally, with discipline, and a sense of responsibility. Further, he instructed the agency head to ensure that the handling and follow-up of public complaints strictly follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
Pramono emphasized that he does not want community issues to be addressed only after they go viral on social media.
"Do not just do the work because there is a complaint or because it has gone viral," he explained.
He also urged the heads of the Highways Sub-agencies across the five administrative cities to thoroughly understand the issues on the ground to prevent any recurrence of reporting manipulation using Artificial Intelligence (AI).
"Do not let what happened with other units be repeated here, where reports were manipulated through fraudulent practices or "jockeys". This mustn't happen in this agency," he explained.
He emphasized that infrastructure issues, such as potholes and damaged sidewalks, must be addressed collectively, especially by the Bina Marga Agency’s field workers.
"May your hard work provide benefits for the flow, convenience, and comfort of everyone traveling in Jakarta," he added.
Jakarta Bina Marga Agency Head, Heru Suwondo added, the 'yellow troops,' stationed across all sub-districts in Jakarta, are responsible for handling incidental public works infrastructure issues.
Their duties are not limited to patching potholes; they also serve as underpass pump operators and maintain pedestrian bridges (JPO), bus stops, sidewalks, and street lighting (PJU). Further, they operate elevators at pedestrian bridges and secure overhead cables.
"We're committed to continuing the duties and functions of the Bina Marga Agency with full accountability, providing sincere service to Jakarta people," he emphasized.
