Thirty-eight firefighters from the South Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency managed to put out a fire at an eatery on Jalan RS Fatmawati Raya, RT 01/01, Pondok Labu Urban Village, Cilandak Sub-district.

South Jakarta Operation Section Head, Sjukri Bahanan said he received a report about a major fire in the early hours of Thursday.

The report came in at 12:06 AM

"The report came in at 12:06 AM. Because the fire was already large, we sent out 10 fire engines and 38 firefighters to the site to keep the flames from spreading to other buildings," he expressed, Thursday (4/9).

He explained that through the maximum deployment of personnel and units, the fire—which burned the approximately 90-square-meter food stall—was successfully contained within 10 minutes. Subsequently, firefighters conducted the cooling process.

He added that there were no casualties in the incident. Preliminary investigations suggest the fire was triggered by a gas stove explosion, which occurred after the owner left it unattended while cooking.

"The firefighting operation was declared complete at 12:52 AM," he noted.

Meanwhile, a local resident, Rais revealed that, according to the owner's account, the owner was frying potatoes at the time of the incident but subsequently fell asleep. As a result, the stove reportedly overheated, triggering an explosion.

"An attempt was made to extinguish the fire using whatever tools were available, but it grew rapidly. Fortunately, the firefighters arrived promptly, preventing the fire from spreading to surrounding areas," he stated.
