Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung addressed the recent attack on a firefighter by a gang of robbers in Gambir, Central Jakarta.

Despite he had only just heard the news, Pramono urged city officials to assist the victim and ensure the case is handled by the police.

I want Satpol PP to provide support

"If it’s true that a firefighter was jumped by robbers and thugs in Gambir, I want Satpol PP to provide support and report it to the authorities," he expressed, Wednesday (4/8).

He emphasized that criminal activities cannot be tolerated and must not happen again in the city, stressing that Jakarta must be a safe place for all.

"This shouldn't be happening because it’s a form of vigilantism. Regardless of the circumstances, we are a country based on the rule of law," he explained.

As previously reported, a firefighter was mugged in Gambir, Central Jakarta. The victim was injured during the attack and lost both their motorcycle and phone in the robbery.
