The Central Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency is going full steam ahead with efforts to clear mud deposits at three key river sites.
According to Citrin Indriati, Head of Drainage Maintenance, her team is focusing their energy on the Ciliwung – West Flood Canal route, starting from Jalan Tenaga Listrik all the way to Roxy.
From Jalan Pos to Jalan Samanhudi
In addition, they are digging deep to dredge the Old Ciliwung River stretch between the Manggarai Water Gate and Jalan Djuanda.
"The polder dredging is also hitting its stride along the Ciliwung River, covering 260 meters from Jalan Pos to Jalan Samanhudi," she expressed, Wednesday (4/8).
This river-clearing project is a carry-over from the program 2025, divided into several stages to ensure a thorough cleanup.
According to her, the dredging handles a one-meter layer of mud, and the agency is bringing in the heavy hitters—seven amphibious and long-arm excavators—to speed up the process.
The main aim of stripping away the silt is to beef up the water capacity so the rivers can better manage the influx of rainwater.
Once collected, the mud from these Central Jakarta sites is trucked off to the Ancol PLTU area in North Jakarta.
