Personnel from the City Parks and Forestry (Tamhut) Team in Kebayoran Baru Sub-district, South Jakarta, pruned hazardous trees along Jalan Melawai Raya in Kramat Pela Urban Village.
"...this will improve safety and comfort for residents,"
Head of the team, Ria Handayani, said the pruning was carried out following residents' complaints about potentially hazardous trees.
"First, we conducted monitoring and assessed the trees' condition. Pruning was then carried out immediately before the rain to ensure more effective work," she said on Monday (4/6).
Ria explained that the tree pruned was a mahogany tree standing over 15 meters tall. Six personnel, along with supporting equipment, were deployed for the operation.
"Thankfully, the work was completed before the rain. We hope this will improve safety and comfort for residents, especially as lighting in the area is no longer obstructed," she added.
After the pruning, branches and tree trunks were collected and transported by truck to a processing site.
"They will be processed into compost at Kampung Kandang Cemetery," she noted.
Meanwhile, a resident, Reno (38), expressed appreciation for the quick response of the green task force in handling the tree, which had posed a significant risk.
"We hope monitoring of other trees can be carried out regularly so that those at risk of falling can be handled promptly," he said.
