Jakarta's population reached 10,881,514 based on the Final Population Data (DKB) for the second semester of 2025, according to the Jakarta Population and Civil Registration Agency (Dukcapil).

The figure consists of 5,461,158 men and 5,420,356 women, marking a decline of around 129,000 people compared to the previous period.

Jakarta's demographic structure shows that residents aged 15–64 dominate the population at 71.26 percent, indicating strong potential for a demographic bonus.

Jakarta Dukcapil Head Denny Wahyu Haryanto said the demographic condition could become a key driver of economic and social development in the city.

Population data also shows that the informal sector employs more workers than the formal sector, including civil servants, members of the Indonesian Military and Police, and employees of state-owned enterprises.

"This reflects the dynamics of Jakarta's labor structure and highlights the importance of improving workers' skills and competencies so they can compete in an increasingly evolving job market," Denny said on Monday (3/16).

He emphasized that accurate population data is essential for development planning and public service delivery.

"With accurate and integrated data, government policies can be designed more precisely and better reflect the actual conditions of the community," he added.

He said the dominance of productive-age residents provides a strong opportunity for Jakarta to increase productivity and competitiveness as a global city.

To support the Digital Government program and strengthen the One Data Indonesia initiative, population identity is also being transformed into digital form through Digital Population Identity (IKD), regulated under Home Affairs Minister Regulation No. 72/2022.

"Digital Population Identity makes it easier for residents to access services because population documents can be stored digitally on mobile phones. In addition to being more practical, IKD also has a strong security system to protect personal data," he explained.

He added that the Jakarta Dukcapil remains committed to providing population administration services that are easy, fast, accurate, and free of charge through various digital innovations.

"We continue expanding access to Dukcapil services through the ‘Dukcapil in Your Hand’ concept," he asserted.

Denny also urged residents to report important life events such as births, marriages, data changes, and deaths.

"Each stage of life requires population documents to ensure citizens' rights are fulfilled," he said.
