The Jakarta Provincial Government, through the Road Transportation Terminal Management Unit (UPTAJ) of the Jakarta Transportation Agency, has prepared a number of terminals to face the 2026 Eid al-Fitr transportation period.

Head of Jakarta Transportation Agency's UPTAJ, Zulkifli said there are three main terminals and three additional terminals prepared to anticipate the surge in passengers ahead of Eid al-Fitr.

estimated to occur on March 13

He added that this year's Eid al-Fitr transportation period runs from March 13 to March 29, 2026. There will be two peaks in the homecoming flow and two peaks in the return flow during this period.

The first peak of the homecoming flow is estimated to occur on March 13, 2026, coinciding with the start of the school holidays. Meanwhile, the second peak is predicted to occur on March 18, 2026, and will be dominated by workers, civil servants (ASN), state-owned enterprise employees, and private sector employees.

"The return flow is also predicted to be divided into two phases. The first peak of the return flow is predicted to occur on March 24, 2026, while the second peak is predicted to occur on March 28, 2026," he said.

He continued that the distribution of the peak return flow is due to differences in return schedules between workers and students.

"Employees typically return to work on March 24th. Students typically return on March 28th or 29th, as the Eid transportation post closes on March 29th," he added.

The distribution of the homecoming and return traffic into two phases also impacted service patterns at the terminal. Service times became longer due to the two peak travel periods.

"This strategy is expected to reduce the density of travelers, preventing them from concentrating on one particular day. Imagine if this were implemented, or if students and workers were not separated, the traffic would be even more overwhelming, far more congested," he admitted.

The main terminals being prepared are Kampung Rambutan Terminal, Kalideres Terminal, and Tanjung Priok Terminal. Meanwhile, three additional terminals are located at Lebak Bulus Terminal, Muara Angke Terminal, and Grogol Terminal.

"There are three main terminals and three additional terminals for 2026. The additional terminals are prepared if the main terminal experiences passenger congestion," he stated.
