A total of eight intercity and interprovincial (AKAP) buses that were declared unroadworthy during a ramp check at the Lebak Bulus Terminal, Pondok Pinang Urban Village, Kebayoran Lama District, South Jakarta, were prohibited from operating before repairs were carried out and the requirements were met.
take place from March 9 to 29, 2026
The ramp check was carried out by officers from the Jagakarsa Motor Vehicle Testing Management Unit (UP PKB) together with the South Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency.
Head of Road Traffic Operations Section for South Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency, Alfian Michiels said ramp check activities are carried out to ensure that AKAP buses are truly roadworthy before transporting travelers to their destinations.
"This ramp check activity will take place from March 9 to 29, 2026," he said, Thursday (3/12).
He explained that by the final inspection, officers had inspected eight intercity buses. However, all of the vehicles were found to not meet roadworthiness standards, requiring the completion of several missing components.
Some of the most frequently encountered findings include the absence of a light fire extinguisher (APAR), non-functioning seat belts, the use of vulcanized tires, and emergency doors being blocked by passenger seats due to overloading.
"We ask that the bus temporarily not operate until all the requirements are met properly," he added.
Meanwhile, Head od Lebak Bulus Terminal, Joni Budhi stated the officers also checked the braking system, lighting, and wiper function on the bus.
This inspection is considered important considering the weather conditions in Jakarta, which are still frequently hit by rain, so all vehicle safety components must function optimally.
"We always remind bus drivers and operators to prioritize the safety of passengers and crew. Therefore, all bus components and equipment must be ensured to be in good condition," he appealed.
