Intercity interprovince (AKAP) bus fleets at Kalideres Terminal have begun undergoing mandatory 'ramp checks' to ensure roadworthiness.
The safety inspections, led by the Kedaung Angke Motor Vehicle Testing Unit and the West Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency, are slated to run through Sunday (3/29).
To ensure every vehicle is fit for the road before it heads to its destination
West Jakarta Operational Section Head, Agus Prasetyo noted that the annual initiative—conducted both before and after the Eid festivities—is designed to verify the roadworthiness of all departing fleets.
"Our aim is to ensure every vehicle is fit for the road before it heads to its destination," he emphasized, Thursday (3/12).
The safety sweeps aim to ensure all vehicles are road-ready before departure.
By midday, he reported that 10 intercity buses had been inspected, with several cited for minor repairs.
"Minor issues result in a warning, but major safety violations—such as bald tires—will lead to an immediate grounding," he noted.
