Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has instructed the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) to immediately sweep public spaces for QR code stickers suspected of being linked to online gambling and personal data scams.

"...action must be taken immediately,"

The QR or Quick Response Code stickers are believed to direct users to illegal online gambling platforms.

He said authorities must take action if stickers directing residents to such illegal platforms are found.

"I will ask the relevant OPD, Satpol PP, to screen them. If they are indeed linked to illegal activities, action must be taken immediately," Pramono stated in Srengseng Sawah, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, on Friday (3/6).

Pramono also reaffirmed the Jakarta Provincial Government's commitment to supporting the central government's efforts to eradicate online gambling.

"Jakarta supports the central government's campaign against online gambling," he asserted.

According to him, online gambling has become increasingly troubling for many people, as a growing number have fallen into the trap and suffered serious consequences in their lives.

"Online gambling has trapped many people everywhere, including in Jakarta. Once someone gets caught in it, their life rarely turns out well. And the problem is now widespread," he stressed.
