Jakarta Govt Launches Free Eid Homecoming Trips to Thousand Islands

The Jakarta Provincial Government, through the Transportation Agency, is organizing a Free Sea Transportation Homecoming program to the Thousand Islands to support travel ahead of Eid al-Fitr.

Registration for the 2026 Jakarta Free Sea Transportation Mudik program will run from March 9 to March 12, with all prospective participants required to sign up online through a Google Form provided by the committee.

...for Thousand Islands residents who wish to return to their hometowns using free sea transportation.

The program will serve Eid travelers to 10 islands in the Thousand Islands: Untung Jawa, Pramuka, Panggang, Lancang, Pari, Kelapa, Payung, Harapan, Tidung, and Sebira.

Jakarta Transportation Agency Head, Syafrin Liputo, said the program is intended for Thousand Islands residents who wish to return to their hometowns using free sea transportation.

He noted that the service only covers departures from Muara Angke Port to destination islands in the Thousand Islands.

"Through this program, we hope residents can travel home more safely and comfortably, without transportation costs," Syafrin said on Thursday (3/5).

He added that the agency has also provided an information service for residents seeking further details about the program via the contact center at 0821-4567-6525, operating Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

"After the registration process is completed, participants will undergo online verification before departure scheduled for March 18, 2026," he explained.

Requirements for the 2026 Jakarta Free Homecoming Program:

1. Students, university students, or Thousand Islands residents, proven with identification such as an ID card (KTP), driver's license (SIM), student card, or family card (KK).

2. Students, university students, or Thousand Islands residents who have moved, proven with an ID card, driver's license, student card, or family card, along with a letter of statement from an urban village in the Thousand Islands.

3. All applicants must register through the designated Google Form by submitting personal or family data.

4. Children above three years old must be registered and must have a child identity card.

5. Each passenger may bring luggage no larger than a 20-inch suitcase.

The 2026 Jakarta Free Homecoming Program Timeline:

1. Registration: March 9–12, 2026

2. Data verification: March 12-15, 2026

3. Departure: March 18, 2026

Important Notes for Participants:

1. Registration must be completed online via Google Form

2. The Free Sea Transportation Homecoming program only serves departures from Muara Angke Port and does not provide return trips from the Thousand Islands. 

3. A maximum of five participants may be registered under one account.

4. Each account may only register one travel route.

5. Participants must confirm via WhatsApp once the verification message is received.

6. Registration will close once the quota has been fulfilled.
