PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) continues to finalize operational preparations for the new Transjakarta route to Soekarno-Hatta Airport ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H/2026 M.
The new route will serve the Blok M–Airport (SH2) route as an additional service besides the Kalideres–Airport (SH1) route which is already operating.
there are a number of adjustments
PT Transjakarta Director Welfizon Yuza stated that administrative and technical preparations are currently underway. He stated that Transjakarta met with Angkasa Pura to discuss operational cooperation last week. A draft memorandum of understanding (MOU) has also been signed by Transjakarta and is currently in the signing process at Angkasa Pura.
According to him, Angkasa Pura fully supports the presence of this new route because it will add alternative transportation for the public to and from the airport.
"However, there are a number of adjustments that are still being discussed, especially regarding the regulation of vehicle flow in the terminal area and integration with internal airport modes such as Kalayang which serves transfers between terminals," he said, Thursday (3/5).
He explained that Transjakarta will push for accelerated licensing at the Ministry of Transportation once the MOU process is complete. The target is for the Blok M-Airport route to be operational before Eid al-Fitr to accommodate the surge in public mobility during the homecoming season.
According to him, Transjakarta will operate orange, low-entry Metrotrans buses with low floors to support this service. This type of bus is considered more user-friendly for passengers carrying suitcases or luggage, as it offers easier boarding and alighting.
"The bus stop pattern is designed at the curbside stops, not in the middle lane, so that it makes it easier for passengers to access, including when arriving at the airport area," he explained.
The Blok M–Airport (SH2) route is planned to traverse the Sudirman corridor, ascend through Semanggi, pass the MPR/DPR area, and then enter the toll road to the airport. Meanwhile, the Kalideres–Airport (SH1) route will continue operating as usual.
Regarding the final stop at the airport, Transjakarta is still coordinating with management to determine the stop location, given the policy of limiting vehicles entering directly into each terminal to reduce congestion. One option being discussed is an integrated stop with Kalayang access.
"The high use of private vehicles to the airport is one of the reasons for strengthening this service. Of the approximately 50 million airport passengers last year, the majority still used private vehicles, resulting in frequent congestion from the toll gates to the airport area," he added.
Operating hours will temporarily follow the regular schedule from 5 AM to 10 PM. Adjustments are still possible based on flight patterns, particularly domestic flights, which are generally busier during the daytime during the homecoming period.
The Blok M–Airport route service will continue to follow the current regular Transjakarta fares, namely Rp 3,500 and Rp 2,000 according to service time provisions.
