The North Jakarta Parks and Forest Sub-agency addressed 1,150 hazardous trees across six sub-districts between January and February 2026.

The operations targeted unstable trees at risk of toppling or losing large branches to ensure public safety during the first two months of the year.

North Jakarta Parks and City Forests Sub-agency Head, Reina Camelia said, it is a cornerstone of the city’s routine safety program. He noted, proactive measures, such as regular pruning and maintenance, have proved highly effective in curbing toppled trees.

"We have seen a sharp decline in fallen trees this month, as our rigorous pruning schedule in high-risk zones has paid off," he stated, Thursday (3/5).

According to the January-February breakdown, the 1,150 operations included 199 light, 743 medium, and 84 heavy-duty trims.

"We also addressed 16 snapped limbs and felled 47 trees that were deemed a public hazard," he explained.

The number of fallen trees plummeted from 57 cases in January to just four in February. He credited the sharp decline to the "Rabu Menoping" (Wednesday Pruning) initiative, a weekly program executed simultaneously across all sub-districts.

"We are staying the course with our program, deploying city and sub-district-level crews to sweep for overgrown trees that pose a looming threat to the public," he noted.

Beyond safety, the tree maintenance program aims to enhance the city’s curb appeal. He believes that well-manicured surroundings foster a more inviting environment for both commuters and local residents.

"It aims to ensure North Jakarta residents can go about their day with peace of mind, even in the face of inclement weather," he concluded.

He urges the public to stay on the lookout and report potential hazards through JAKI app.

"Over the past two months, we have successfully cleared 217 reports from residents regarding tree-related concerns," he noted.

He added that this is ramping up its green initiatives to preserve the area's natural beauty and maintain North Jakarta’s ecological balance.

"Ultimately, we want to bolster safety while ensuring North Jakarta remains a green and well-manicured environment," he concluded.
