As Ramadan begins, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung is putting residents' minds at ease by confirming that the capital’s food reserves are in excellent shape.

According to him, essential staples are in high supply, ensuring a worry-free celebration for the upcoming Idulfitri.

The city continues to monitor market activity vigorously to curb any potential price hikes. Pramono’s aim is clear: keep staples affordable and keep inflation at bay.

"We are staying vigilant. The aim is to ensure inflation stays within a manageable range," he stated during a press briefing.

However, he did not shy away from the harsh realities of international conflict.

Touching upon the friction involving Iran, the U.S., and Israel, he warned that Jakarta is not entirely immune to global economic shudders.

"External pressures on the global economy are a certainty given the current state of warfare," he explained.
