The Seribu Islands Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency "Blue Squad" personnel have rolled up their sleeves to repair the sea wall at the Pantura Pier area on Kelapa Island, North Seribu Islands.

Seribu Islands Coastal Section Head, Wahyu Maulana, stated that the repairs aim to shore up the embankment’s structure. It aims to ensure the wall remains as solid as a rock even when pounded by sea waves.

We are on track to wrap things up by early March

"This repair covers a 50-meter stretch, with a width of 1.5 meters and a height of 40 centimeters. We're mending the gaps and patching up holes using a cement-sand mixture to prevent further damage," he expressed, Tuesday (2/24).

Beyond reinforcing the structure, crews are also giving the wall a fresh coat of paint to replace its faded facade. A 200-meter stretch is being spruced up with vibrant colors to ensure the pier area looks shipshape and inviting for visitors.

"Five personnel have been on the job since mid-February. With progress currently at 25 percent, we are on track to wrap things up by early March," Wahyu added.

He urged residents to play their part in maintaining the newly repaired structure, noting its dual role as a vital wave breaker and the island’s official boundary line.

"Hope locals can take ownership of this facility and steer clear of any activities that could compromise the integrity of the sea wall," he added.

Meanwhile, RW 02 Kelapa Island Chairman, Mukhtar, tipped his hat to the personnel for their prompt action in addressing the damage.

"We are truly grateful as this repair is a top priority for our safety and comfort at the pier. We're committed to keeping the sea wall in tip-top shape to ensure it serves its purpose for the long haul," he concluded.
