Ahead of the upcoming festivities, 15 PPSU personnel (popularly known as the 'Orange Squad') were deployed to assist in cleaning the Viriya Bala Temple in Pekayon, East Jakarta.
Pekayon Urban Village Head, Ahmad Bakri stated that the administration's involvement is a gesture to foster and strengthen interfaith harmony within the community.
Celebrate Lunar New Year tomorrow
"As our fellow residents prepare to celebrate Lunar New Year tomorrow, we are providing support by deploying 15 personnel to help spruce up the temple," he expressed, Monday (2/16).
Viriya Bala Temple Assembly Chair, Sunardi Lukman expressed deep gratitude and appreciation to the Pekayon Urban Village officials for their support in the cleanup.
"I am quite touched and very thankful to the Urban Village Head for coordinating this joint effort. The results are outstanding," he noted.
Viriya Bala Temple Foundation Management for Education and Socio-Cultural Affairs, Liana added that the activity included cleaning the Buddha statues (rupang), a ritual symbolizing both physical and spiritual purification.
"The temple's youth members handled the cleaning of the statues, while the PPSU personnel focused on tidying up the front yard and the surrounding road access," she concluded.
