The Jakarta Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) launched the Bina Tertib Praja Operation 2026 on Thursday (2/12), zeroing in on several major roads across Central and East Jakarta.

The operation serves as a push to enforce Local Regulation No. 8/2007 on Public Order and Gubernatorial Regulation No. 57/2022 on the Organization and Work Procedures of Regional Apparatuses.

We are adopting a persuasive and humane approach

Operations Head for Jakarta Satpol PP, Ivan A. Anugrah stated that the initiative is part of the local government’s commitment to keeping the peace and reclaiming sidewalks for their rightful purpose: pedestrians.

"We are adopting a persuasive and humane approach, but we are also standing our ground against any violations that disrupt public order and convenience," he expressed, Thursday (2/12).

He noted that the operation sets its sights on those flouting bylaws and regional regulations by encroaching on sidewalks. A joint personnel swept through several major thoroughfares, including Jalan Prajurit KKO Usman-Harun, Jalan Salemba Raya, Jalan Kramat Raya, and Jalan Matraman Raya to clear the pathways.

As a result of the crackdown, authorities seized goods belonging to several independent street vendors, while others were given a stern warning. Motorcycles found illegally parked on sidewalks also faced the music, as the Jakarta Transportation Agency carried out its "valve-stem removal" (OCP) policy to deter future violations.

"This operation involves dozens of personnel joining forces from Satpol PP, Social Agency, Transportation Agency, Public Works Agency, MSME Agency, Kesbangpol, Kogartap, and Patea PMJ army,” he added.

To ensure the operation ran like clockwork, authorities pulled out all the stops by deploying a vast array of resources. The fleet rolled out for the mission included patrol cars, operational pickup trucks, and caged transport trucks from Satpol PP and Social Agency. These were further supported by tow trucks from the Transportation Agency and five motorcycles from the Patra PMJ unit to bolster the enforcement efforts.
