Jakarta Provincial Government continues to refine plans to expand the TransJabodetabek route, connecting Jakarta with its surrounding areas. Most recently, 20 TransJakarta buses are prepared to serve the Blok M-Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Soetta) route.
Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, revealed that the waiting time or departure distance for Transjabodetabek buses on the Blok M-Soetta Airport route will be shorter, namely around 5-10 minutes.
Maximum headway is 10 minutes
"Maximum headway is 10 minutes," said Pramono, Thursday (2/5).
Pramono also confirmed that the service fare for this route will remain unchanged, namely Rp2,000 before 6 AM and Rp3,500 after that.
"Fare for this route remains the same," he added.
Responding to public complaints about long Transjakarta headway recently, Pramono explained that there are two main contributing factors. Besides the weather during the rainy season, the surge in passengers is also due to the growing interest in switching to public transportation.
"The number of people using public transportation in Jakarta is increasing rapidly. Why? We're offering free rides for 15 categories. That's why taking public transportation has become a new habit," he stated.
Pramono also revealed plans to expand the Transjakarta bus fleet to improve public service. He even targeted modernizing 10,000 electric Transjakarta buses by 2029.
"In fact, my target for 2029 is that 10,000 Jakarta buses will be electric buses," he said.
