Head of Marunda Urban Village, Victor Hotma Parulian Deo said ghe channel is cleaned of weeds, water hyacinth, and creeping plants that cover the river body.

"The cleanup has been underway since February 2, 2026 and is expected to take several days due to the significant length of the channel being handled," he said, Wednesday (2/4).

According to him, approximately 750 meters of the canal have been cleared. Waste and other materials from the cleanup are being temporarily collected on the side of the embankment for further handling according to established procedures.

He added that the end of the Bogor River channel flows into the Blencong River and empties into the sea, so it has an important role in the drainage system of the Marunda area.

"After cleaning, we hope that the water flow will be more optimal and the environment will look more organized," he hoped.

He also appealed to the public to work together to maintain environmental cleanliness.

Meanwhile, one of the local residents, Sanuri (55), appreciated the joint personnel for cleaning the channel and river.

"The channel has long been filled with wild plants, often getting clogged and causing water to overflow when it rains," he admitted.
