PT MRT Jakarta and the developers signed a Memorandum of Understanding regarding the Study of the Potential Contribution of the East-West MRT Line Phase 2 (Kembangan-Balaraja) at the Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday (2/4).

The signing, witnessed directly by the Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung and the Banten Governor, Andra Soni, was carried out as part of efforts to encourage the development of modern mass transportation.

efficient and sustainable transportation system

PT MRT Jakarta Director, Tuhiyat said the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding is a manifestation of the implementation of the third mandate given by the government to MRT Jakarta, namely optimizing the development of the Transit Oriented Development (TOD) area with a radius of 700 meters from the station.

"This collaboration reflects the seriousness of all parties in supporting an efficient and sustainable transportation system," he said.

He explained that the East-West line is a strategic corridor that connects residential areas, industrial areas, and new growth centers in Jakarta and Banten Province.

He added that this phase is planned to be approximately 30 kilometers long, stretching from Kembangan to Balaraja.

He hopes that this study can assist the Ministry of Transportation in smooth planning for the East–West crossing Phase 2, both from an institutional and financial perspective.

"Through this memorandum of understanding, MRT Jakarta and its developers are striving to promote a TOD concept that focuses not only on mobility but also on improving the quality of life for residents. This project is expected to be realized through strong synergy between the central government, local governments, and the private sector," he explained.

Tuhiyat assessed that this collaboration will produce innovative solutions that ease the burden on public funding while creating added economic value for the region and the community.
