The Betawi traditional dance training held at the Arung Palaka RPTRA on Kelapa Island, North Seribu Islands, has become a highly anticipated event for local children. Filled with joy, the participants follow every dance move in a learning atmosphere that is both fun and educational.

We want our youth to be creative and carry the torch of Betawi culture

"I love dancing. If there’s a workshop, I’ll definitely join so I can get better. If there is a competition in the future, I want to enter it," she expressed, Monday (2/2).

Kelapa Island Urban Village Head, Muhammad Adriansyah, explained this training offers tangible benefits for children's development, particularly in character building, discipline, and self-confidence.

"This RPTRA is more than just a playground; it serves as a space for long-term mentorship. Kids can study the arts, engage in positive social interactions, and connect with their local heritage," he explained.

He added that the active and sustainable utilization of the community center is expected to open new doors for both the children and the locals.

"We want our youth to be creative and carry the torch of Betawi culture with confidence,” he stated.

Arung Palaka RPTRA Caretaker, Arlan highlighted that the 'Coastal Kids' workshop is planting the seeds of local heritage in young minds.

“It’s about giving them a positive outlet. Even after the week-long professional training ends, our mentorship remains full steam ahead. We want to make sure these kids are always ready to shine in the spotlight,” he said.
