Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security (KPKP) Agency has examined 40 product samples sold by traders of the Muara Baru Modern Fish Market, Penjaringan, North Jakarta, on Tuesday (8/18).

According to Darjamuni, Head of Jakarta KPKP Agency, it was conducted to ensure the distribution of fishery products in Muara Baru Market that was safe from dangerous substances such as formalin.

"Based on the examination results, those 40 samples are safe from formalin," he expressed, Tuesday (8/18).

Certainly this action was a routine agenda that had a purpose to create a sense of security for shoppers in the market.

Thereby his agency urged them to better recognize the characteristics of fresh fish, such as the color of red gills, clear prominent and convex eyes, light and bright skin color, fish scales are still fresh and shiny, the flesh is chewy when pressed, the fins are strong and the skin and flesh are not easily torn.

"Certainly this is our commitment to ensuring the food safety of Jakarta people amid the COVID-19 pandemic," he stated.

As for the information, the Muara Baru Modern Fish Market is one of the wholesale fish markets in Jakarta besides the Muara Angke Wholesale Market.\
